Weddings can be full-on. Between the planning, the emotions, and the tiny last-minute details, thinking about your photos might feel like just one more thing to manage. But don’t worry—this isn’t about posing stiffly or faking smiles.

As a documentary-style wedding photographer, I’m all about capturing you being you—the laughter, the quiet glances, the unplanned moments. That said, a little preparation can go a long way in making sure you feel relaxed and confident on the day.

Here are a few simple tips to help you feel photo-ready without any added pressure.

1. Let’s Chat Before the Big Day

Getting to know each other makes a huge difference. I always recommend a pre-wedding call (or coffee if you're local!) to talk through your timeline, locations, and any important family moments or special touches you’ve planned. The more I understand your story, the better I can tell it through photos.

2. Keep invites, perfume, rings & Any other details in one place.

I love Photographing your little details. If you would like these photographing-Keeping them all together in a box makes sure I can find them without everyone running around trying to find everything. It also ensures that nothing will go walk abouts!

3. Build in Buffer Time

Wedding days never run exactly to schedule—and that’s totally okay! But giving yourself a bit of breathing room in the timeline helps you stay present, and it gives me the freedom to capture beautiful moments naturally. Rushing = stress, and that shows in photos.

So when planning your day, add an extra 10–15 minutes here and there. You'll thank yourself.

4. Make a (Short) Shot List

I'm all about candid moments, but if there are any specific group shots or meaningful details you want captured—like a photo with Grandma or a charm sewn into your bouquet—let me know in advance. I’ll take care of the rest so you don’t have to remember on the day.

5. Be Prepared for anything!

Weddings are beautifully unpredictable. One minute you're sharing a quiet moment with your mum, the next you're dodging a surprise rain shower or laughing through a forgotten line in your vows. And you know what? Those are often the moments you’ll treasure the most. Maybe the flowers arrive late. Maybe someone forgets the rings. I’ve seen it all—and every couple still ended up married, smiling, and celebrating. The less pressure you put on perfection, the more space you give yourselves to truly enjoy the day.

An emergency kit goes a long way!

Here’s a little list I always recommend brides or planners have on hand:

Plasters (heels can be brutal!)

Tissues (happy tears, every time)

Hair pins & safety pins

A phone charger

Blotting papers or powder

Sewing kit & Safety pins (Dress disasters are a real thing)

Snacks + water (you’ll thank me later)

6. Bonus Tip: Be Present

The best wedding photos happen when you're in the moment. Try to let go of the logistics (I know it’s hard!) and focus on the people around you. Laugh. Cry. Dance. Hug. I’ll be there to catch it all—quietly, from the side lines.
